Description
Viburnum x ‘Cayuga’, commonly known as Koreanspice Viburnum, is a deciduous shrub prized for its fragrant, creamy-white flower clusters that bloom in late spring. This hybrid viburnum combines the best traits of its parent species to produce a compact, upright growth habit, making it ideal for hedges, borders, and foundation plantings. Its dark green foliage turns a rich burgundy-red in the fall, adding seasonal interest beyond its notable floral display. Originating from hybridization efforts to enhance ornamental qualities and fragrance, ‘Cayuga’ is valued for its resistance to common pests and diseases, as well as its adaptability to a range of soil types and light conditions. The plant’s sweet, spicy fragrance attracts pollinators such as bees and butterflies, contributing to garden biodiversity. Recognized by horticultural experts for its combination of beauty, fragrance, and durability, Viburnum x ‘Cayuga’ is a standout choice for gardeners seeking both aesthetic appeal and low maintenance in a flowering shrub.
