Description
Viburnum carlesii ‘J.N. Select S’ Sugar N’ Spice™ Koreanspice Viburnum is a highly regarded deciduous shrub known for its exceptional fragrance and ornamental appeal. Originating from Korea and Japan, this cultivar is prized for its large, globular clusters of pink buds that open to fragrant white flowers in early spring, filling the garden with a spicy, sweet aroma that resembles a blend of cinnamon and nutmeg—hence the “Sugar N’ Spice” name. It features glossy, dark green foliage that turns vibrant shades of red and purple in the fall, adding multi-season interest. This compact, slow-growing shrub is valued for its dense, rounded habit and low maintenance requirements, making it an excellent choice for foundation plantings, borders, or specimen use. The ‘J.N. Select S’ selection is noted for its superior flowering and enhanced fragrance compared to typical Korean spice viburnums, offering gardeners a sensory-rich experience. Its combination of ornamental beauty, captivating scent, and reliable growth has made it a favorite in landscape design and garden cultivation.
