Description
Veronica liwanensis, commonly known as Turkish Speedwell, is a charming evergreen perennial native to the mountainous regions of Turkey. Renowned for its dense, low-growing mounds of small, glossy green leaves, this plant produces delicate spikes of pale blue to lavender flowers in late spring through early summer, adding a soft yet vibrant touch to rock gardens, borders, and ground covers. Its compact habit and tolerance to drought and poor soils make it an excellent choice for xeriscaping and erosion control. Historically valued in Mediterranean gardens, Turkish Speedwell combines ornamental appeal with resilience, thriving in full sun to partial shade and well-drained soils. This species is appreciated not only for its aesthetic qualities but also for its ability to attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies, supporting garden biodiversity. Recognized for its utility and beauty, Veronica liwanensis remains a beloved choice among gardeners seeking a low-maintenance, attractive perennial.
