Description
Thymus pseudolanuginosus, commonly known as Woolly Thyme, is a low-growing, spreading perennial groundcover prized for its dense, woolly foliage and soft texture. Native to the Mediterranean region, this plant features tiny, gray-green leaves covered with fine, silvery hairs, giving it a distinctive fuzzy appearance that adds ornamental value to rock gardens, pathways, and between stepping stones. Woolly Thyme thrives in full sun and well-drained soils, exhibiting excellent drought tolerance once established. Its small, tubular flowers, typically pale pink to lavender, bloom in early summer and attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies, enhancing garden biodiversity. This variety is especially valued for its ability to form a resilient, non-invasive carpet that suppresses weeds and withstands light foot traffic, making it a functional and aesthetically pleasing choice for sustainable landscaping. Although primarily grown for its foliage, its aromatic properties are also appreciated in garden settings. Known for its low maintenance and adaptability, Thymus pseudolanuginosus is a distinctive member of the Lamiaceae family, contributing both texture and fragrance to perennial plantings.
