Description
Strobilanthes dyerianus, commonly known as Persian Shield, is a striking tropical perennial prized for its vibrant, iridescent foliage that features rich shades of metallic purple and deep green with shimmering silver undertones. Native to Myanmar (Burma), this plant was introduced to Western horticulture in the early 20th century and has since become popular for its dramatic color contrast in shade gardens and containers. Persian Shield thrives in warm, humid environments and prefers partial shade to filtered sunlight, making it an excellent choice for adding bold color to shaded landscapes. Its lance-shaped leaves and upright, bushy habit can reach up to 3 feet tall, creating a lush, textured appearance.
