Description
Spiraea x vanhouttei, commonly known as Vanhoutte Spirea, is a deciduous shrub prized for its graceful arching branches adorned with cascades of delicate, pure white flowers in late spring. This hybrid spirea, developed in the late 19th century and named after the Belgian horticulturist Henri Vanhoutte, is valued for its vigorous growth habit and adaptability to a wide range of soil types and climates. Its finely textured, serrated leaves provide attractive green foliage throughout the growing season, which often turns a soft yellow in fall, adding seasonal interest beyond its prolific bloom. Vanhoutte Spirea is widely appreciated for its low maintenance requirements, tolerance to urban conditions, and ability to function as a stunning hedge, border, or specimen plant. It has also been recognized by various horticultural societies for its reliability and ornamental appeal in landscape design.
