Description
Osteospermum fruticosum, commonly known as the African Daisy, is a vibrant, shrubby perennial native to the coastal regions of South Africa. Renowned for its striking daisy-like flowers that feature a rich palette of colors including purples, pinks, whites, and yellows, this plant thrives in full sun and well-drained soils, making it a popular choice for warm climates and drought-tolerant landscapes. Unique for its heat tolerance and extended blooming period from spring through fall, Osteospermum fruticosum adds long-lasting color and texture to garden beds, borders, and containers. Its semi-woody stems and dense foliage provide a compact, mounding habit, often used to create attractive ground cover or low hedges. The African Daisy has gained recognition for its adaptability and ornamental appeal, contributing to its popularity in Mediterranean-style and coastal gardens.
