Description
Nepeta x faassenii ‘Dropmore’ Catmint is a robust and versatile perennial known for its aromatic foliage and prolific spikes of lavender-blue flowers that bloom from late spring through summer. Originating from a hybrid between Nepeta racemosa and Nepeta nepetella, ‘Dropmore’ was developed to combine cold hardiness with extended bloom time, making it well-suited for a variety of garden settings including borders, rock gardens, and pollinator-friendly landscapes. This cultivar is especially valued for its compact, mounded growth habit and resistance to deer and rabbits, as well as its ability to attract bees and butterflies, enhancing biodiversity. Its gray-green leaves emit a pleasant fragrance when brushed, adding sensory interest beyond its visual appeal. ‘Dropmore’ Catmint’s resilience in poor soils and drought tolerance contribute to its popularity among gardeners seeking low-maintenance yet striking perennials. It has been recognized by horticultural societies for its garden performance and reliability, cementing its status as a staple in perennial gardening.
