Description
Nandina domestica ‘Cool Glow Pomegranate,’ commonly known as Heavenly Bamboo, is a striking evergreen shrub prized for its vibrant, multi-seasonal foliage and compact growth habit. This cultivar features finely textured leaves that emerge a bright coral-pink, gradually maturing to a rich green with crimson undertones, providing dynamic color shifts throughout the year. Renowned for its tolerance of diverse growing conditions, including shade and varying soil types, ‘Cool Glow Pomegranate’ is valued for its low maintenance and ornamental appeal in landscapes and containers. Native to eastern Asia, Nandina has been cultivated for centuries in gardens for its bamboo-like stems and delicate, lacy foliage, symbolizing good fortune in some cultures. This particular variety stands out due to its dwarf size and enhanced winter color, making it an excellent choice for small gardens or accent plantings. Its clusters of white flowers in spring are followed by bright red berries that attract wildlife, adding seasonal interest. The ‘Cool Glow Pomegranate’ has been recognized by horticultural societies for its exceptional ornamental qualities and reliability in garden settings.
