Description
Leucophyllum candidum ‘Microburst’ Violet Silverleaf, commonly known as Texas sage or silverleaf, is a compact, evergreen shrub prized for its dense, silvery-gray foliage and vibrant violet flowers that bloom profusely during warm months. Native to the arid regions of Texas and northern Mexico, this drought-tolerant plant thrives in hot, sunny environments and well-drained soils, making it an excellent choice for xeriscaping and low-maintenance landscapes. The ‘Microburst’ cultivar is particularly noted for its smaller, more refined foliage and a more compact growth habit compared to standard varieties, allowing for versatile use in borders, containers, and mixed shrub plantings. Its unique ability to bloom following rainfall or irrigation events adds seasonal interest and attracts pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Leucophyllum candidum has been widely valued in southwestern landscaping for its resilience and ornamental appeal and continues to be a popular choice for sustainable gardening designs.
