Description
Hydrangea quercifolia ‘Snow Queen’ is a striking cultivar of oakleaf hydrangea known for its large, deeply lobed leaves that resemble those of an oak tree, which turn vibrant shades of red, orange, and purple in the fall. This deciduous shrub produces impressive conical clusters of creamy white flowers in early to mid-summer, which gradually age to a soft pink, adding multi-seasonal interest to the landscape. Native to the southeastern United States, oakleaf hydrangeas have long been appreciated for their drought tolerance, adaptability to various soil types, and distinctive exfoliating bark that adds winter appeal. ‘Snow Queen’ is particularly valued for its vigorous growth habit and robust flowering, making it a standout choice for woodland gardens and naturalized settings. Its unique combination of bold foliage texture, spectacular fall color, and long-lasting floral displays has earned it recognition among gardeners seeking both beauty and resilience in a landscape shrub.
