Description
Hydrangea paniculata ‘Rensun’, marketed as Strawberry Sundae® Panicle Hydrangea, is a striking deciduous shrub prized for its large, conical flower panicles that provide a spectacular seasonal display. This cultivar is notable for its unique bicolor blooms, which emerge creamy white in early summer and gradually develop vibrant pink to red tips as the season progresses, resembling the colors of a strawberry sundae dessert. The flowers are densely packed, creating a lush, textured appearance that adds visual interest to landscapes from mid-summer through fall. Originating from breeding efforts aimed at enhancing color intensity and bloom longevity within the paniculata group, Strawberry Sundae® exhibits a robust growth habit with strong, upright stems that support its heavy flower heads without flopping. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and is valued for its adaptability and resistance to common hydrangea diseases. This cultivar has been recognized for its ornamental appeal and performance, making it a favorite choice among gardeners looking to extend the hydrangea flowering season with vibrant, dynamic color changes.
