Description
Geranium macrorrhizum ‘Ingwersen’s Variety’, commonly known as Cranesbill, is a robust and aromatic perennial groundcover prized for its dense mounding habit and fragrant foliage. Originating from southeastern Europe, this cultivar is celebrated for its resilience, thriving in a range of soil types and tolerating drought once established, making it a favored choice for low-maintenance gardens and woodland settings. The plant produces delicate, five-petaled pink to mauve flowers in late spring to early summer, which attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Its evergreen, deeply lobed leaves emit a spicy scent when crushed, adding sensory interest beyond its visual appeal. ‘Ingwersen’s Variety’ is especially valued for its ability to suppress weeds and stabilize soil on slopes or difficult garden sites. This geranium has been recognized for its garden merit by various horticultural societies, underscoring its popularity among gardeners for both functional and ornamental use.
