Description
Echinacea x Sombrero® ‘Balsomemy’ Lemon Yellow Coneflower is a vibrant and compact perennial renowned for its cheerful lemon-yellow petals and prominent orange-brown central cone, creating a striking contrast that brightens any garden setting. This hybrid, developed by breeding Echinacea varieties, combines the classic daisy-like appearance of coneflowers with enhanced color intensity and a more uniform, bushy growth habit, typically reaching heights of 12 to 18 inches. Native to North America, coneflowers have a rich history of use by Indigenous peoples for medicinal purposes, and modern hybrids like Sombrero® series have been bred for superior garden performance, including drought tolerance, extended bloom periods from early summer to fall, and resistance to common diseases. Echinacea x Sombrero® ‘Balsomemy’ is especially valued for attracting pollinators such as bees and butterflies, making it both an ornamental and ecologically beneficial addition to landscapes. This cultivar is also noted for its low maintenance requirements and adaptability to various soil conditions, thriving best in full sun with well-drained soil. The Sombrero® series has gained recognition in the horticultural community for its innovation in coneflower breeding, highlighting improved flower form and color varieties that extend the traditional palette of Echinacea.
