Description
Digitalis purpurea ‘Camelot Cream’ is a striking cultivar of the common foxglove known for its elegant, upright spires adorned with creamy, tubular flowers that subtly blend soft yellow and cream tones, often highlighted with delicate speckling inside the throats of the blooms. This biennial to short-lived perennial is prized for its ability to add vertical interest and charm to cottage gardens, borders, and woodland settings, attracting pollinators such as bees and hummingbirds with its nectar-rich flowers. Originating from the foxglove species native to Europe, Digitalis purpurea has a long history of medicinal use, providing the basis for heart-related drugs, though the Camelot series was developed for enhanced garden performance and more refined flower colors. The ‘Camelot Cream’ cultivar stands out due to its robust growth habit, disease resistance, and its extended blooming period in late spring to early summer. It has been recognized in horticultural circles for its exceptional garden merit and reliability, making it a favored choice among professional landscapers and home gardeners alike.
