Description
Dicentra spectabilis, commonly known as Bleeding Heart, is a striking perennial native to eastern Asia, including regions of Siberia, northern China, Korea, and Japan. Renowned for its distinctive heart-shaped, pendulous pink and white flowers that dangle gracefully from arching stems in spring, this plant adds a romantic and whimsical touch to shaded garden areas. The finely divided, fern-like blue-green foliage provides an attractive backdrop throughout the growing season, turning yellow as the plant goes dormant in summer. Bleeding Heart thrives best in partial to full shade with moist, well-drained soil and is valued for its early spring bloom when many other perennials are yet to flower. Its charming floral display has long made it a favorite among gardeners seeking to enhance woodland and shade gardens. Dicentra spectabilis has been celebrated for both its ornamental appeal and adaptability, making it a staple in temperate garden landscapes worldwide.
