Description

Light-duty workbench areas get cluttered when technicians string portable drop lights using loose floor extension cords. The Coxreels Spring Driven Cord Reel provides 50 feet of flexible 16-gauge power cable rated at 10 Amps. It feeds soldering irons and work lights. The 16-gauge wire overheats if hooked to heavy magnetic drill presses.

Coxreels fabricates this compact industrial reel from heavy-gauge carbon steel finished with an electrostatic powder coating. The electrical conduction path features solid copper slip rings paired with copper-graphite brushes to transfer 120-Volt electrical current without arcing during drum rotation. A cartridge-style tempered steel clock spring provides uniform recoil torque across the entire 50-foot stroke. The terminal end houses an industrial duplex receptacle box with dual grounded three-prong outlets.

Field Hardware Performance Matrix

Precision electronic benches and tool cribs require compact electrical cord reels that supply clean power without floor tangles. Heavy-gauge steel fabrication and precision copper slip rings deliver continuous electrical energy to small workshop tools.

  • 50-foot 16/3 SJTOW oil-resistant and water-resistant power cord delivers 10-Amp continuous electrical service.
  • Industrial duplex receptacle box provides dual grounded electrical outlets for light power tools.
  • Solid copper slip-ring collector hub transfers 120-Volt current without intermittent contact during spooling.
  • Single-pedestal 1/4-inch solid steel support arm stops drum deflection under off-axis cable pulls.
  • Enclosed cartridge spring motor allows safe maintenance replacement without loose spring steel hazards.
  • Multi-position locking ratchet mechanism holds the cable at selected lengths to reduce tool drag.
  • Multi-angle four-roller fairlead guides 16-gauge cable onto the drum without outer jacket pinching.

Dyno Load Realities Heat Data

Under continuous 10-Amp electrical dyno load testing with bench equipment, coiled cable core temperature climbs to 122°F on the drum in 75°F shop air. Spooling out the full 50-foot length drops operating core temperature to 92°F. Pull-force testing measures 5.0 pounds of initial extraction resistance, climbing to 11.5 pounds at full payout. The copper slip ring shows zero electrical voltage drop across 8000 full-cycle rotations. Retraction sound output registers 61 dBA at 3 feet distance.

Field Service Application Limits

Weighing 31 pounds, mounting this cord reel requires four 5/16-inch bolts into structural framing or workbench uprights. Do not connect this 16-gauge reel to heavy 15-Amp circular saws, air compressors, or welders. High-amperage equipment overloads the 16-gauge copper conductors, melting cable insulation and provoking electrical fire hazards.

  • Inspect the outer SJTOW cable jacket for cuts or copper exposure before starting workshop shifts.
  • Check frame mounting bolts for tightness every 250 operating hours to counter shop vibration.
  • Verify total connected tool draw remains below 10 Amps to prevent cable overheating on the drum.

Commercial Warranty Package Inventory
