Description
Cornus sericea ‘Flaviramea’, commonly known as Yellow Twig Dogwood, is a striking deciduous shrub prized for its vibrant yellow stems that provide exceptional winter interest in the landscape. Native to North America, this cultivar is a selected variety of red osier dogwood, traditionally recognized for its red winter stems, but ‘Flaviramea’ stands out with its bright yellow branches that contrast beautifully against snow or dormant garden beds. Growing typically 6 to 9 feet tall, it features ovate green leaves that turn reddish-purple in autumn, and clusters of small white flowers bloom in late spring, followed by white berries that attract wildlife. This adaptable shrub thrives in moist soils and is often used for erosion control, wetland restoration, and as a colorful hedge or specimen plant. Its combination of ornamental stems, seasonal foliage color, and ecological benefits make it a popular choice in sustainable and wildlife-friendly gardening. The Yellow Twig Dogwood has been celebrated for its unique stem coloration, adding a bold splash of color to winter landscapes.
