Description
Cornus kousa ‘Summer Fun’ Dogwood is a striking ornamental tree celebrated for its distinctive variegated foliage, which features creamy white margins that create a vibrant contrast against deep green leaves throughout the growing season. This cultivar, a selection of the Asian dogwood species native to Korea, China, and Japan, is cherished not only for its unique leaf coloration but also for its classic dogwood traits—showy white bracted flowers that bloom in late spring, followed by attractive red fruit and brilliant fall foliage in shades of red and purple. ‘Summer Fun’ combines ornamental beauty with reliable performance, demonstrating resistance to common dogwood diseases such as dogwood anthracnose and powdery mildew, making it a favored choice for both residential and public landscapes. Its upright, rounded form and moderate growth rate add to its versatility in garden design. The development of this cultivar reflects ongoing efforts to enhance dogwood varieties for increased ornamental appeal and disease resistance.
