Description
Citrus x limon ‘Meyer Improved’ Lemon is a uniquely flavorful citrus variety that is a hybrid between a true lemon and a mandarin orange, resulting in a fruit with a sweeter, less acidic taste than traditional lemons. Originating from China and introduced to the United States in the early 20th century by agricultural explorer Frank Meyer, this improved cultivar offers cold hardiness superior to many other lemon varieties, making it suitable for container growing and cultivation in warmer temperate climates. Its glossy evergreen foliage and fragrant white blossoms enhance its ornamental appeal, while the fruit itself is prized for culinary uses, from fresh juice to marmalades. Recognized for its vigorous growth and extended fruiting season, the Meyer Improved Lemon tree is a popular choice among home gardeners and professional landscapers alike, celebrated for combining beauty, fragrance, and productive yield in a single compact form.
