Description
Catharanthus roseus ‘Titan Dark Red’ Vinca is a robust and versatile annual known for its vibrant, deep red blooms and glossy, dark green foliage. Originating from Madagascar, this species has been widely cultivated for its drought tolerance and ability to thrive in hot, sunny conditions, making it an excellent choice for low-maintenance landscapes and container gardens. The ‘Titan’ series is particularly prized for its vigorous growth habit and improved disease resistance, delivering a long-lasting floral display from spring through frost. Its compact size and continuous flowering make it ideal for mass plantings, borders, and hanging baskets. Catharanthus roseus also holds historical significance, as it is the source of important alkaloids used in medicinal applications, although the ‘Titan Dark Red’ cultivar is primarily grown for ornamental appeal. Recognized for its outstanding garden performance, this cultivar embodies both beauty and resilience in warm-climate gardening.
