Description
Callicarpa bodinieri var. giraldii ‘Profusion’, commonly known as Beautyberry, is a striking deciduous shrub prized for its vibrant clusters of iridescent purple berries that persist into late fall and winter, providing exceptional visual interest and wildlife value. Native to China, this variety was selected for its prolific fruit production and compact growth habit, typically reaching 4 to 6 feet in height, making it an excellent choice for mixed borders and naturalized landscapes. The glossy green foliage turns yellow in autumn before dropping, allowing the vivid berries to stand out brilliantly against the bare branches. Beyond its ornamental appeal, ‘Profusion’ is highly regarded for its adaptability to various soil types and tolerance of partial shade, thriving best in well-drained sites. This cultivar has gained recognition among gardeners and landscape professionals for its consistent berry display and ease of care, enhancing fall and winter garden interest.
