Description
Buxus x Better Boxwood® ‘HER2009B01’ Renaissance is a compact, low-growing evergreen hybrid bred in Europe (by Herplant BV and ILVO) to be highly resistant to boxwood blight. It features glossy, small, dark green foliage that maintains its richness year-round with minimal pruning (just once yearly). Ideal for formal low hedges, parterres, knot gardens, and container plantings, it typically grows 1–2 ft tall and 1–2 ft wide (maxing out around 3 ft high by 4–5 ft wide when unpruned), forming a dense, mounded habit. Suited to USDA zones 5–9 and adaptable to full sun or part shade, Renaissance thrives in well-drained soils from acidic to slightly alkaline. Its introduction was part of the award-winning Better Boxwood® program—the first scientifically bred blight-resistant boxwood collection in the U.S.
