Description
Buddleja x Color Choice ‘SMNBDBT’ Pugster Blue® Butterfly Bush is a compact, versatile shrub known for its vibrant, sky-blue flower panicles that attract butterflies and hummingbirds, making it a favorite for pollinator-friendly gardens. This cultivar is a result of the ColorChoice series developed to provide improved cold hardiness, disease resistance, and repeat blooming throughout the growing season. Originating from hybridization efforts to create more manageable, smaller Buddleja varieties, Pugster Blue typically grows to about 2 to 3 feet tall, making it ideal for containers and smaller garden spaces without compromising on floral show. Its narrow, lance-shaped green foliage contrasts beautifully with the intense blue flower clusters, which bloom from mid-summer into early fall, offering continuous color and nectar sources. The Pugster Blue Butterfly Bush is also noted for its low-maintenance nature, drought tolerance, and ability to thrive in a wide range of soil types. Recognized for its outstanding garden performance, this cultivar has garnered attention from horticultural experts and is often recommended for urban and suburban landscapes seeking butterfly-attracting plants.
