Description
Achillea millefolium ‘Terracotta’ Yarrow is a vibrant perennial known for its dense clusters of warm, terracotta-hued flowers that bloom profusely from late spring through summer. This cultivar of the native North American yarrow boasts finely divided, fern-like foliage that remains aromatic when crushed, adding sensory appeal to garden settings. Highly valued for its drought tolerance and adaptability to a variety of soil conditions, ‘Terracotta’ yarrow thrives in full sun and well-drained sites, making it an excellent choice for xeriscaping and pollinator gardens. Historically, Achillea millefolium has been used medicinally by indigenous peoples for its anti-inflammatory properties, and its name honors the Greek hero Achilles, who reportedly used the plant to treat wounds. The ‘Terracotta’ variety is appreciated for its long-lasting blooms and resistance to pests and diseases, contributing to its popularity in perennial borders and naturalistic landscapes.
