Description
Syringa pekinensis ‘Summer Charm’, commonly known as the Peking Lilac, is a distinctive lilac variety prized for its compact size and vibrant summer blooms. Originating from the botanical species native to northern China, this cultivar was developed to thrive in urban and smaller garden settings due to its tidy growth habit and resistance to common lilac diseases. Unlike traditional lilacs that bloom in spring, ‘Summer Charm’ flowers later in the season, producing fragrant, tubular, lavender-purple blossoms that attract pollinators and provide extended landscape interest. The plant features dark green foliage that often holds its color well into the fall, adding to its aesthetic appeal. Recognized for its adaptability and ornamental value, Syringa pekinensis ‘Summer Charm’ has garnered attention from horticulturists and garden enthusiasts seeking a reliable lilac with a unique blooming schedule, making it a favored choice in both residential and public gardens.
