Renowned for its distinctive bright yellow, spherical flower clusters that bloom profusely in late spring to summer, this species adds vibrant color and texture to xeriscapes and drought-tolerant landscapes. The finely divided, fern-like foliage provides a soft, delicate appearance while also offering excellent shade and erosion control. Adapted to hot, dry environments, Goldenball Leadtree thrives in well-drained soils and full sun, demonstrating remarkable heat and drought tolerance. Historically valued by indigenous peoples for its utility as fodder and firewood, Leucaena retusa also supports pollinators and wildlife, making it an ecologically beneficial choice for sustainable gardening. Its unique combination of ornamental beauty and hardiness has earned it recognition among native plant enthusiasts and landscape professionals focused on water-wise planting.
