Description
Senecio (Packera) aureus ‘Golden Ragwort’ is a vibrant perennial native to North America, cherished for its bright golden-yellow daisy-like flowers that bloom in early spring, providing one of the first bursts of color in woodland and shade gardens. This hardy plant thrives in moist, well-drained soils and partial shade, making it an excellent choice for naturalizing in woodland edges or shaded borders. Its distinctive heart-shaped, lobed leaves emerge with a fresh green hue that complements its sunny blossoms, creating a striking contrast in shaded garden areas. Historically recognized for its use by Native American tribes for medicinal purposes, Golden Ragwort adds both ecological value and ornamental appeal by attracting early pollinators such as bees and butterflies. The plant’s adaptability and low maintenance make it a favored selection among gardeners seeking early spring interest and naturalistic landscape designs.
