Description
Abelia x grandiflora ‘Little Richard’, commonly known as Glossy Abelia, is a compact and highly ornamental shrub prized for its dense, glossy foliage and profuse, fragrant tubular flowers that bloom from late spring through fall. This hybrid cultivar is a dwarf selection of the traditional Abelia grandiflora, notable for its vibrant reddish-purple leaves that provide striking color contrast against the plant’s delicate pink to white blossoms. Its compact size, typically reaching 2 to 3 feet tall, makes it ideal for small gardens, borders, or container planting. Glossy Abelia is valued for its adaptability to various soil types, tolerance to heat and drought, and low maintenance requirements, making it a popular choice in both formal and informal landscape designs. This cultivar has gained recognition for its ornamental appeal and versatility, often highlighted by horticultural institutions for its extended blooming period and attractive year-round foliage.
