Pieris japonica ‘Purity’, commonly known as Japanese Andromeda, is an evergreen shrub prized for its striking, pure white new foliage that gradually matures to a bright green, creating a stunning seasonal contrast. Native to East Asia, this cultivar is valued for its elegant, cascading clusters of bell-shaped white flowers that bloom in early spring, attracting pollinators such as bees and butterflies. It thrives in acidic, well-drained soils with partial shade, making it a favored choice for woodland gardens and shaded borders. The plant’s glossy, lance-shaped leaves and compact, upright growth habit add year-round interest and structure to landscapes. ‘Purity’ is appreciated for its low maintenance requirements and resistance to common pests and diseases, which enhance its appeal for both residential and commercial plantings.
