Renowned for its attractive, aromatic foliage and showy, fragrant white flowers with prominent purple stamens, it offers both ornamental beauty and edible fruit. The plant produces guava-like, egg-shaped fruits that have a sweet, tropical flavor reminiscent of pineapple and guava, making it popular for fresh eating, jams, and jellies. Pineapple Guava is valued for its drought tolerance, adaptability to various soil types, and ability to thrive in USDA zones 8 to 11, making it an excellent choice for edible landscaping and pollinator gardens. Historically cultivated for both its fruit and ornamental appeal, it has gained recognition for its dual-purpose use and ease of growth in warm temperate climates.
