Description
Camellia sasanqua ‘Yuletide’ is a striking evergreen shrub renowned for its vibrant red flowers that bloom profusely in late fall to early winter, adding rich color to the garden during the cooler months. Originating from Japan, this variety is part of the sasanqua camellias, which are valued for their glossy, dark green foliage and graceful, slightly fragrant blossoms. ‘Yuletide’ features single, bright red petals surrounding a prominent cluster of golden-yellow stamens, creating a festive appearance that makes it a popular choice for holiday-themed landscapes. Its compact growth habit and tolerance for partial shade make it an excellent understory plant or foundation shrub. Historically, Camellia sasanqua has been cultivated in Asia for centuries, cherished not only for ornamental use but also for its association with tea production. ‘Yuletide’ has gained recognition in the horticultural community for its dependable winter blooming and ornamental appeal, making it a standout in both traditional and modern garden designs.
