Description
Goeppertia coccinea ‘Freddie’, also known as the Freddie Prayer Plant, is a tropical perennial native to Brazil’s rainforest understories. Celebrated for its elongated, lance-shaped leaves adorned with dark green stripes on a light green background, it adds a touch of elegance to indoor spaces. As a member of the Marantaceae family, ‘Freddie’ exhibits nyctinastic movements—its leaves rise and fold in response to light changes, resembling praying hands. This pet-friendly plant thrives in warm, humid environments with indirect light, making it a popular choice for homes and offices. While primarily grown for its striking foliage, it can produce small, tubular flowers under optimal conditions. ‘Freddie’ is part of Proven Winners’ Color Full® series, highlighting its exceptional ornamental value.
