Description
Weigela florida ‘Minuet’ is a compact, deciduous shrub celebrated for its vibrant, variegated foliage and profuse spring blooms. This cultivar features small, ovate leaves edged in creamy white with a subtle pink flush, providing year-round interest as the foliage matures to a deeper green accented with pink margins. In late spring to early summer, ‘Minuet’ produces trumpet-shaped, rosy-pink flowers that attract hummingbirds and butterflies, enhancing garden biodiversity. Originating from the classic Weigela florida species native to East Asia, ‘Minuet’ was introduced through selective breeding to offer a more ornamental foliage alongside reliable flowering performance. Its compact, mounded habit makes it an excellent choice for smaller gardens, borders, or container planting, offering both texture and color contrast. Notably, ‘Minuet’ has been recognized for its ornamental value and ease of care, making it a favorite among gardeners seeking a versatile and visually striking shrub.
