Description
Rosa banksiae ‘Lutea’, commonly known as the Yellow Lady Banks Rose, is a vigorous, thornless climbing rose prized for its profuse display of small, fragrant, buttery-yellow blooms that cover the plant in spring. Native to central and western China and introduced to the West in the early 19th century, this species rose has a long history as an ornamental climber, valued for its rapid growth, disease resistance, and adaptability to warm climates. Its delicate, semi-double flowers appear before the foliage, creating a striking cascade of color that makes it ideal for trellises, fences, and arbors. The plant’s evergreen to semi-evergreen foliage adds year-round interest in milder regions. Recognized for its low maintenance and elegant floral display, Rosa banksiae ‘Lutea’ continues to be a favorite among gardeners seeking a classic, reliable climbing rose with historic significance.
