Description
Liriope muscari ‘Purple Explosion’ is a vigorous and visually striking variety of lilyturf known for its dense, arching clumps of dark green, grass-like foliage that provide an excellent evergreen ground cover. This cultivar is particularly admired for its abundant spikes of vibrant, deep purple flower clusters that emerge in late summer to early fall, creating a bold contrast against its lush leaves. Native to East Asia, Liriope muscari has a long history of use in ornamental landscaping for erosion control, borders, and mass plantings due to its hardiness, adaptability to a variety of soil types, and tolerance of shade and drought conditions. ‘Purple Explosion’ is valued not only for its ornamental appeal but also for its low maintenance requirements and resistance to common pests and diseases. This cultivar’s robust flowering performance and striking color have made it a favorite among landscape professionals and gardeners alike.
