Description
Acacia stenophyllodes, commonly known as Shoestring Wattle, is a distinctive Australian native shrub valued for its slender, needle-like foliage and graceful, airy appearance. This fast-growing evergreen features narrow, cylindrical phyllodes instead of typical leaves, giving it a fine-textured, delicate look that adds movement and lightness to garden landscapes. It produces bright yellow, fluffy, spherical flower clusters in late winter to early spring, which not only enhance its ornamental appeal but also provide an important nectar source for pollinators. Originating from eastern Australia, Shoestring Wattle has adapted well to a variety of soil types and thrives in full sun to part shade, displaying drought tolerance once established. Its unique combination of elegant foliage and vibrant flowering makes it a popular choice for naturalistic gardens, screens, and erosion control, reflecting the ecological value and horticultural versatility widely recognized by Australian botanists and gardeners.
