Description
Rhododendron x ‘Silver Sword’ Azalea is a striking evergreen shrub prized for its elegant, silvery-gray foliage that provides year-round interest and a unique texture in the landscape. This hybrid azalea, part of the Rhododendron genus, is known for its compact, well-branched form and its vibrant, funnel-shaped lavender to pale purple blooms that appear in late spring, contrasting beautifully against its distinctive foliage. Originating from hybridization efforts aimed at enhancing cold hardiness and ornamental appeal, ‘Silver Sword’ thrives in well-drained acidic soils and performs well in partial shade, making it a versatile choice for woodland gardens, borders, or foundation plantings. Its slow to moderate growth rate and tolerance for urban conditions add to its desirability in diverse garden settings. This cultivar has earned recognition for its landscape value, particularly for its unique foliage color and reliable flowering habit, making it a favored selection among gardeners and landscapers seeking year-round interest with a touch of elegance.
