Description
Syringa pekinensis ‘Morton’ China Snow™ Peking Lilac is a striking ornamental shrub valued for its dense clusters of pure white, fragrant flowers that bloom in early spring, creating a dramatic and elegant display. Originating from the Peking lilac species native to northern China, this cultivar was selected for its exceptional cold hardiness, disease resistance, and compact growth habit, making it well-suited for both urban and suburban landscapes. The foliage is dark green and glossy, providing attractive contrast to the showy blossoms, and the plant typically reaches a moderate height, making it ideal for foundation plantings, hedges, or massings. Developed by the Morton Arboretum, China Snow™ is noted for its extended bloom period and improved vigor compared to traditional lilacs, offering gardeners a reliable and low-maintenance option for early spring color. This cultivar has been recognized for its landscape value and has received accolades from various horticultural organizations for its ornamental qualities and adaptability.
