Description
Fothergilla x intermedia ‘Legends of the Small’ is a compact, deciduous shrub prized for its exceptional autumn foliage and unique bottlebrush-like flowers. As a hybrid between Fothergilla gardenii and Fothergilla major, this cultivar combines the best traits of both parents, offering a smaller stature ideal for limited spaces without sacrificing visual impact. In spring, it produces fragrant, white, bottlebrush-shaped flowers that provide early-season interest before giving way to stunning fall colors ranging from fiery reds and oranges to bright yellows. Highly adaptable and tolerant of a range of soil conditions, ‘Legends of the Small’ thrives in partial shade to full sun and is valued for its resistance to pests and diseases. This cultivar reflects the horticultural efforts to create versatile, ornamental shrubs suitable for modern landscapes, blending beauty and resilience in a compact form.
