Description
Quercus x ‘Scarlet Letter’™ Oak is a striking hybrid oak known for its vibrant scarlet-red fall foliage, offering a brilliant seasonal display that makes it a standout choice for landscape design. This cultivar combines the hardiness and adaptability of its parent species, typically Quercus coccinea (scarlet oak) and Quercus rubra (northern red oak), resulting in a tree that thrives in a range of soil types and urban conditions while maintaining excellent drought tolerance. It features a classic oak form with deeply lobed leaves that transition from rich green in summer to intense red in autumn, providing multi-season interest. Developed through careful breeding to improve disease resistance and overall landscape performance, ‘Scarlet Letter’™ Oak provides strong structure and shade, making it ideal for parks, streetscapes, and large gardens. This hybrid is celebrated for its ornamental value and reliable growth habit, positioning it as a superior choice among red oaks for both residential and commercial planting schemes.
