Description
Ilex integra x latifolia ‘Screen Play’ Holly is a distinctive evergreen hybrid holly valued for its dense, upright growth and glossy, dark green foliage that provides excellent year-round screening and privacy. This cultivar combines the hardiness and adaptability of Ilex integra with the broader leaves of Ilex latifolia, resulting in a plant that is both robust and visually striking. Native to East Asia, the parent species have been cultivated for centuries, but ‘Screen Play’ is a modern hybrid selected for superior landscape performance, including tolerance to heat and urban conditions. Its thick, leathery leaves and dense branching habit make it ideal for hedges, privacy screens, and foundation plantings. This holly produces inconspicuous flowers followed by bright red berries, attracting birds and adding seasonal interest. ‘Screen Play’ has been recognized within the horticultural community for its exceptional screening ability and low maintenance requirements, making it a popular choice for both residential and commercial landscapes.
